About

Welcome

Lone Oak Goldens welcomes you to our website! We believe that you will find exactly what you are looking for when you get a glimpse of our furry family members, our babies, and how we go about our lives raising these beautiful, intelligent, devoted, people loving animals!

We live on the outskirts of Columbus, Nebraska. This midwestern city, located in the center of the USA and surrounded by cornfields, is approximately 1.5 hours Northwest off Omaha.

We love what we do and raising these dogs has been such a journey. We have had several years of guidance from a great friend who is a well-respected breeder of Goldens and has over 30 years of expertise at raising and caring for these amazing top-quality dogs. She brings a wealth of information to our kennel with compassion and friendship.

I take pride in the cleanliness of our home and indoor facilities. Our dogs are exercised and walked daily. We have a 40-acre pasture where we take them to run and explore!

Our Story

My love for the Golden came when my son was a young boy and needed a loving companion to help him through his parents’ divorce, teenage growing pains and a foundation into adulthood. My son learned to hunt at a very early age and wanted someone loyal at his side. There was never a regret after we brought our first Golden home. She was eager to please, loved the field and most importantly, loved our family beyond measure. Our beautiful and faithful “Bella” was with us until she passed, running the cornfields of Nebraska one November afternoon. She was 13 years old.

About the Golden

The Golden Retriever is a beautiful gun dog that was originally bred in the Mid-19th century in Scotland. Their purpose was to retrieve downed waterfowl with their “soft mouth” without damaging the bird.

Golden Retrievers have a signature coat that comes in many different colors. The diverse shades range from cream to a very dark red. They are one of the most popular breeds of dog in America as well as other countries. These dogs aim at pleasing humans, whether it is at hunting, field work, guiding the blind and deaf, helping with search and rescue, obedience or agility. They are extremely intelligent, and they take their work very seriously. Yet, set work aside and their gentle temperament shines as a loyal and dedicated family member. Goldens are very social and form a very strong bond with their people. They love them so much that they prefer to be inside with their family instead of outside alone.
